After weeks of much speculation and long wait, Redmi Note 7 was finally launched in India on Thursday at an event in New Delhi. The smartphone which had made its debut in China last month as the first smartphone under Xiaomi's newly established Redmi sub-brand, has arrived in India, but does not offer something big - it does not have a 48-megapixel camera. The company had been teasing the device on its social media platforms for a while now and unveiled it along with the Redmi Note 7 Pro.
Interestingly, the event marked the global debut of the Pro version of Redmi Note 7, which has been launched in two variants: 4GB + 64GB and 6GB + 128GB.
Speaking at the launch event, Global vice president of Xiaomi, Manu Kumar Jain said that the company has become number one in India in smartphones, smart TVs and fitness bands categories. Citing the IDC data, he said that Xiaomi shipped 41 million units in India in 2018 and grew by 58 per cent.
