Hyderabad: A three-year-old girl playing in front of her house was carried away and raped by an autorickshaw driver in a wooded area near her house on Thursday night at Dundigal.
She bled heavily due to the injuries and is admitted to Gandhi Hospital for treatment.
Md Moinuddin, 33, a father of four, and married twice was arrested and produced before the court for judicial remand.
The incident took place at Kaisarnagar under Dundigal police station limits.
Police said that CCTV footage from cameras installed on a neighbouring house captured chilling images of the rapist carrying the girl away.
Dundigal police official said, “The victim was playing with her siblings in front of her house when she was kidnapped by Moinuddin. Footage recovered from the CCTV cameras shows him waiting at a distance and observing the children. He sat on a stone for about a minute. When the girl was alone, he quickly moved towards her and took her away.”
Inquiry revealed that Moinuddin along with two of his friends had drunk liquor in the forest and he was returning home when he saw the girl playing. “The girl suffered severe bleeding injuries and is undergoing treatment. She is out of danger. Legal formalities like a potency test on Moinuddin and a DNA test are being conducted,” Balanagar DCP P.V. Padmaja said.
Police said that the baby has four siblings. Her father was away at work and her mother was preparing food for the children. She found the girl missing and began searching for her.
After about 20 minutes, they found the girl crossing the road with bleeding injuries and blood stains on the clothes.
They alerted locals and police and rushed the victim to Gandhi Hospital at about 11.30 pm.
Her family members alleged that doctors at Gandhi Hospital delayed in attending to the girl.
They staged a protest in front of the police station demanding that the police hand over Moinuddin to them. Police said that Moinuddin migrated with his wife and four children to the city from Zaheerabad in Sangareddy district about 12 years ago.
He used to drive an autorickshaw. Police registered a case against him under Section 376 of the IPC and Sections 3 and 5 of the Pocso Act.
