How do Search Engines work?

Google's search engine is very popular today.

Google has very well designed its software program so that the best results can be delivered to users.

I remember when I was in school and had to create a project on Indian culture.

I had gone to the library first, collecting information.

And the library in charge had given me a very quick book related to me.

There are a lot of books in the library, but they are arranged in a very different manner.

Similarly, there is a lot of information online too.

Search engines collect all that information, organize and decide, and give it to their users when asked.

Search engines work in 3 steps-

  1. Crawling
  2. Indexing
  3. Retrieval
  4. First search engines do crawling.

google crawling

He goes to a webpage and follows the link given on it, while doing the second, then on the third etc.

In this way online collecting information from all webpages.

Whenever you create a new website, then submit it to the search engines.

Search Engine Optimization is necessary whenever you create a new website, then submit it to search engines.

How to submit your website to Google?
And your website's sitemap should also be given to search engines,

What is a Sitemap?
3 Simple steps - Create sitemaps and submit to Search engines
So that crawlers can collect information from our website correctly and add them to our database.

The second Step is - Indexing

After gathering the information, add this information to your database.

All the collected information is analyzed and ranked. That is, to show which of the thousands of webpages it is showing in SERP (Search Engine Result Page).

This process is called indexing.

Ranking and indexing

Every search engine has its own rules (algorithms) on which the ranking is decided.

If we talk about Google, there are around 200 factors on which to analyze and rank all webpages.

In SEO's tutorial, I have also talked about these ranking factors.

for example -

If I type Taj Mahal in Google, then the website which has come to the top has title, description and URL in the Taj Mahal.

This is because when ranking a Google search web page considers title, description, and URL as a very important factor.

Apart from this, things that Google determines our ranking in search results.

  •  how old is our website?
  •  What is the quality of the information given on it?

  • How many websites do that link to that webpage? (backlinks)

  •  These are all things Google points to in what position the webpage is shown.

  • Third and last step is -Retrieval
  • In this step, the query of the user is understood and all related results are displayed.

Step 3 -Retrieving

Whenever we type something in Google's search box, nothing inside seconds

Related to that, any information that is available online shows us in our search results.

Conclusion

Google, Yahoo, Bing etc. All these search engines are actually software programs,

Whatever the search, the user is given information related to it, they are given very quickly.

Working of all search engines is like this - collecting information to rank it by analyzing it and showing the results to the user when asked for it.
