Actually, 59 Chinese mobile applications in the country have been banned by the Government of India and there are two apps of Xiaomi among them. Xiaomi's Mi Video Call and Mi Community App have been declared completely banned in India. That is, now these apps will no longer be available for download and install on smartphones.

By the time the news was written, both these apps had been removed from the Apple iPhone's App Store, but these apps were present on the Android Play Store on Android smartphones. Apart from these apps of Xiaomi, well-known apps like Tencent's WeChat, Alibaba's UC Browser and Bytedance's TikTok and Shareit have also been banned under the provisions of Section 69 and IT Rules 2008 of the IT Act.

Among the top 5 smartphone brands, India's number one smartphone brand is Xiaomi. At the end of the first quarter of 2020, Xiaomi's market share in the Indian smartphone market has reached 30 percent. At the same time last year i.e. in 2019, Xiaomi sold 4.36 crore smartphones in India, which is the largest record of smartphones sold in a year by any mobile brand.

Talking about other top smartphone brands, the first quarter of 2020 i.e. January-February-March, four of the top 5 smartphone brands in India are from China
